主張
「かのファン・ゴッホは生涯たった一枚の絵を売ることもかなわなかった。強いて言えば、金になったのは定食屋に食事代代わりに置いて行った一枚だけだ」
真偽のほどは知りません。（ゴッホから直接手に入れたというインタビューも聞いたことはありますしね）。ただ、これが一種「美談」として語られている状況に、僕は我慢がならないのです。
「好きな事をやっているんだから、銭にはならないよ」よく言われることです。
少し前、一般の人の初任給が17万という時代にアニメーターの初任給は10万など当たり前のことでした。プログラマーもそういう時代が長くありました。
かつて映像の照明助手という職業がありました。いまは映像のデジタル化とともに縮小傾向にありますが、かつては大変重要な仕事でした。
たまたま筆者はこの職業に詳しいですので、例としてこの仕事の年収に触れます。この職種は大きく分けると、映画、テレビ番組、ＣＭとありますが、この3つは同じ仕事内容でもその年収額は、大きく違います。
情報は古く25年以上前になってしまいますが、それぞれ250万、500万、800万です。もちろん経験や技術、立場などによって色々ですが、例示したのは中堅と言われた僕の友人30代の3人です。
ここで見ていただきたいことは、「赤の他人から見たやりがい」です。周りから見れば、「いいか悪いかわからない商品の宣伝するよりは、好きな映画作りにかかわったほうが楽しいだろう」という勝手な思い込みです。
つまり仕事のやりがいや楽しさを、映画＞テレビ番組＞ＣＭと短絡的に考えるわけです。
ここで留意すべき点は、彼らの考えるやりがいや楽しさと彼らの考えた報酬額が反比例していることです。
余談ですが、やりがいについては本人たちの感覚は違いましたけどね。当時邦画は衰退しきっていましたし、日本のＣＭ撮影技術は世界最高と言われていた時代ですから「豚もおだてれば樹に登る」そんな感じでした。
話を戻します。つまり、報酬は「他人から見た愉しさ」と反比例するということです。
「しかし、ピカソやキース・リチャードやビルゲイツは大もうけだよ」と言う人がいます。
それはそうですよ。中には売れる奴だっているさ。そんなこと言っているんじゃない。
世の中に一生懸命やっても大成功しなければ飢え死にって仕事があっていいんでしょうか？と、問うているんです。
僕はそんな世界は断じて否定します。

こんな言葉を発して、かつ自明とする根拠と動機は何でしょう。
嫉妬から来る差別意識です。
僕は、それに断固たる宣戦布告をしようと思います。
